Why Hang a Toran on the Door for Diwali?
Traditionally, torans of mango leaves and marigold were hung at the entrance to welcome Goddess Lakshmi and keep negative energy out. Today's torans keep that meaning and add colour, gota patti, pearls and metalwork, so the doorway looks festive for weeks and the piece can be reused.

      Bandarwal, Bandhanwar and Thoranam:

Same doorway tradition, different names: bandarwal or bandhanwar in the north and west, thoranam in the south. Whatever you call it, the torans here suit main doors, pooja room entrances and office reception doors.

How to Choose the Right Toran:
Measure the width of your door frame before you pick a full toran. For narrow doors or apartments, a pair of shubh labh hangings works better. Match colour to your entrance: red and gold for a classic look, pastels and pearls for a lighter one.

      Torans as Diwali Gifts:
A toran is a thoughtful Diwali and housewarming gift for a new home. Pair it with a diya set or a pooja piece.

      A Note on Reuse:
Store fabric and gota patti torans flat in a cloth bag after Diwali, away from moisture. Wipe German silver hangings with a dry cloth. Both will look new next year.
